Your assignments

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead development, implementation and continuous improvement of R&D cost reporting processes, systems and tools, in conjunction with Project Managers in PLM and with Controlling
  • Facilitate efficacious and efficient execution of periodic R&D project cost reporting
  • Manage R&D cost across the portfolio
  • Contribute or co-lead development, implementation and continuous improvement of other state of the art R&D project management systems and tools
  • Co-create and & Drive some of the Portfolio Management processes

Financial Dimension:

-Manage consolidated cross-portfolio R&D project cost (total > 100M€ per year)

Lead development, implementation and continuous improvement of R&D cost reporting processes, systems and tools, in conjunction with Project Managers in PLM and with Controlling, including:

  • The financial reporting aspects of the Divisional Financial Project Steering implementation within Biosimilars, incl. the processes and tools
  • Cost baseline setting, tracking and reporting deviations vs. baseline
  • Cost and resource forecasting algorithms, to facilitate forecasting and benchmarking
  • Cost benchmarks, to support operations and performance management internally, and to liaise with industry peers and fora if and as relevant

Facilitate efficacious and efficient execution of periodic R&D project cost reporting. Manage R&D cost across the portfolio:

  • Ensure financial reporting processes and timelines are clearly articulated within PLM, so that PLM can deliver adequately, i.e. ensuring high transparency and quality, and within the expected timeframe
  • Lead consolidation of cross-portfolio R&D cost reporting, to support strategic decision making by the Biosimilars Unit leadership. This includes periodic forecasting, contingent cost approval requests, actuals, accruals, working in close collaboration with the Project Management in PLM, and with Controlling
  • Act as PLM Point of Contact for Controlling.

Contribute to or co-lead development, implementation and continuous improvement of other state of the art R&D project management systems and tools, including

  • Governance or Project Management related aspects of the Divisional Financial Project Steering implementation within the Biosimilars Unit
  • Other R&D project management-related topics e.g. template plan, risk management process and tools

Co-create and & Drive some of the Portfolio Management processes

  • Ensure robust project risk management across the portfolio
  • Support cross functional preparation of annual/bi-annual reviews of pipeline projects – Co-lead in collaboration with Commercial and Strategy and Business Development the review of existing LCM opportunities and prioritization
  • Explore new targets for biosimilars and beyond biosimilars portfolio options while maintaining a holistic overview of the target portfolio, including assessment of strategic alignment, commercial viability and risk management
  • Maintain Create and maintain benchmark evaluation and portfolio competitiveness by analysing retrospectively the internal performance and comparing it with industry standards

Your profile

Education:

  • Master’s or PhD in business, management and /or science
  • Project Management degree is an asset

Job Specific Competencies and Skills:

  • Strong background in finance in biopharma R&D, preferably in biosimilars. Experience in / knowledge of Portfolio Management would be a plus.

  • Advanced project management

Languages:

  • Fluency in English essential, both oral and written
  • Additional languages (German or French) are an asset

Work experience:

Must have:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a similar role in biopharma industry, preferably in Biosimilars
  • Knowledge of Financial Controlling in biopharma R&D, preferably in Biosimilars
  • Exposure to Portfolio Management topics in a Pharma R&D pipeline context
  • Demonstrated success operating in a project-driven global matrix organization with the full breadth of all functions contributing to drug development

Additional assets:

  • Knowledge of Project Management in biopharma R&D, preferably in Biosimilars People management
