Our passion for science and technology drives our approximately 62,000 employees in 65 countries to address some of today’s toughest challenges and develop more sustainable ways of living.

In our rapidly changing and uncertain world, factors such as an aging population, chronic diseases, AI, climate change, and other megatrends have created an appetite for scientific breakthroughs that can make a positive difference across our global society. The pace of change will increase over coming decades as technologies evolve and converge in ways that fundamentally transform how we live and work. For us at Merck, change is not a threat but an opportunity as we have proven for over more than 350 years.

Tasks

  • Your role will involve supporting the development and improvement of processes used for custom engineered activities, overseeing the controlling of both custom and roadmap projects, and managing the coordination of Continuous Improvement (CI) projects for the S&S organization.
  • You will specifically support the Project Management (PM) team on custom engineered activities by creating Bill of Materials (BOM) and routing for preliminary cost structures, reviewing the final structures in Oracle, improving procedures, and providing necessary training to ensure all processes are understood and followed. Additionally, you will serve as the key contact for SOF Sharepoint and its associated processes, handling administrative support and access requests, and be the primary administrator for the PPT tool within the S&S organization.
  • Your responsibilities extend to supporting the controlling function on custom engineered activities, which includes analyzing, monitoring, and correcting financial variances related to labor and material, defining, analyzing, and communicating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as the balance of SVOP/POV to the management team, sharing good financial practices within the PM team, and validating preliminary and final costs via the Lotus Notes database.
  • Furthermore, you will support the controlling of roadmap and CI projects by monitoring financial expenses, defining project progress status (Forecast, in progress, spent), ensuring the current financial situation aligns with the forecast (OP) on a monthly basis, defining, analyzing, and communicating financial KPIs to the management team, and analyzing and communicating any deviations. You will also act as a backup for item set-up activities for custom projects. As a key contributor to the CI dynamic, you will act as a Lean advocate by identifying quick wins, proposing and executing CI projects, and participating in CI events, utilizing various Lean tools. Finally, you are responsible for being aware of safety and environmental rules and applying them consistently in your daily work, including when dealing with suppliers.
