Valeo

The mission of the thermal systems business group is to develop and manufacture systems, modules and components to ensure thermal energy management of the power train and comfort for each passenger, during all phases of vehicle use. These systems help to significantly reduce fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and other pollutants and harmful particles from vehicles equipped with internal combustion engines. They also increase travel range and battery life for hybrid and electric vehicles. At the Front Office in Bietigheim-Bissingen we are supporting Sale- and Project activities and compose the interface between the customers Daimler and Valeo-internal departments at the development from Thermal Systems.

Tasks

  • Supplier Steering & Roadmap Alignment: Act as the primary technical interface with key semiconductor suppliers (e.g., TI, Infineon, NXP, ST) to influence their product roadmaps and ensure future chipsets meet Valeo’s performance and cost requirements.
  • HWA Optimization: Deep-dive into Hardware Accelerator (HWA) architectures to design and map radar algorithms (FFT, CFAR, Compression) that maximize throughput and minimize power consumption.
  • Chip Capability Assessment: Evaluate and benchmark competitor chipsets, performing deep-dive analyses on internal architectures, memory bandwidth, and processing latencies.
  • Technical Specification: Define high-level requirements for next-generation Radar SoCs, including ADC sampling rates, phase noise requirements, and integrated DSP/HWA capabilities.
  • Architectural Integration: Collaborate with System and Hardware Architects to ensure the selected chip technology aligns with the overall radar sensor thermal, power, and PCB constraints.
  • Expert Support: Provide high-level troubleshooting for complex issues related to chip-level bugs, hardware-software interface bottlenecks, or non-linearities in the RF front-end.

Profile

  • Education: Master’s or PhD in Microelectronics, Electrical Engineering, or Semiconductor Physics.
  • Semiconductor Expertise: Extensive experience in Radar SoC architecture, including deep knowledge of RFCMOS technology and digital back-end processing.
  • Algorithm Mapping: Proven track record of implementing complex signal processing algorithms specifically on Hardware Accelerators (HWA) or specialized DSPs.
  • Radar Physics: Strong understanding of the interaction between silicon performance (e.g., noise figure, linearity, phase noise) and system-level radar KPIs.
  • Strategic Communication: Ability to negotiate technical trade-offs with external suppliers and present complex architectural choices to Valeo senior management.
