Tasks & accountabilities
- Responsible for the definition and specification of the mechanical subsystem
- Lead the project's mechanical discipline comprising technical management, development, verification and interfaces
- Manage the project's technical performance, cost and schedule of all work packages in the mechanical discipline
- Report to project and line management, co-operate with and advise the project team and sub-system responsible
- Represent work results to the customer
- Lead the project's mechanical design and analysis team
- Critically review project documents, proposed designs and qualification concepts
- Organize and lead project reviews and technical meetings
- Write proposals, technical specifications, budget plans and time schedules
- Contribute actively to the improvement process of the mechanical discipline
Willingness to travel non-frequently, mainly within Europe.

Required skills
- Academic degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Successful completion of a satellite system development phase B/C/D as mechanical engineer
- Familiar with ESA's ECSS development approach and ECSS standards,handbooks and guidelines
- Substantial knowledge in mechanical engineering and a good basis in thermal and propulsion engineering
- Good German and fluent English skills
