Your task and responsibilities

As Laboratory manager in Biology, you will have to ensure the following tasks:

  • Lead a lab team in Biology with the objective to identify key parameters of biological performance of the next generation of products for sustainable Disease Control in crops of agronomic interest and look for opportunities to embed digitally enabled agriculture in the research activities
  • Play a key role, and potentially take the lead, in a multidisciplinary Research project team by providing active scientific input on the assigned project(s) and proactively interact with other Research functions and Crop science stakeholders to support strategic decisions regarding, for example, field testing, project objectives, long term portfolio positioning, patent data generation
  • Design, execute and evaluate strategic studies/experiments such as implementation of tailor-made testing conditions translating farmers needs and challenges into new assays.
  • Use your inventive abilities and up to date technical and scientific knowledge to bring forward new ideas for implementation of fast developing cutting edge technologies (eg. robotisation, AI enabled technologies, high content analysis…) and data science.

Profile

  • You have a Master of Science or PhD Thesis with multiyear experience in leading a R&D lab team in an industry enterprise.
  • You have a good knowledge in phytopathology, agronomy and crop protection in general. A good understanding about modern cropping systems & farmer´s needs
  • You are experienced in laboratory and greenhouse and/or field experimentation of Crop Protection products.
  • You have a good technical knowledge of fungicides and the competitive environment
  • You are innovative, curious, open to new approaches / technologies to shape the future of Research Disease Control (open innovation, technology scouting). You have high ability to solve problems, to structure and to simplify complex tasks, to challenge the status quo and to embrace change.
  • You enjoy working in multidisciplinary teams, and your good communication & interpersonal skills as well as intercultural knowledge and understanding are your strengths to succeed in this position.
  • Fluency in English is required, knowledge in French and/or German is appreciated.
