Tasks

  • Work in an integrated team on the ongoing deployment and exploitation of Galileo, the European satellite navigation system and concepts for future system evolutions
  • Support the assessment of new navigation concepts and algorithms at system and user level
  • Implementation of and experimentation with navigation concepts in close cooperation with the navigation system team
  • Support the development of navigation analyses toolsets and participate to concept experimentations and trade-off analyses
  • Get an inside in the development of large systems
  • Trade-off analyses for different solutions and system implementation options
  • Some example areas to support are: orbit determination, time synchronization, user error modelling, Precise Point Positioning, Advanced Receiver Integrity Monitoring, data dissemination algorithms in ground and space
  • Software adaptations to support data evaluation and algorithm testing as well as optimization and verification
  • The activity might be carried into a final thesis work

Required skills

  • Student of an engineering discipline, such as Applied Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Geoinformatics, Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar
  • Interest to deepen knowledge on satellite navigation systems
  • Detailed experience in data evaluation and understanding of processing algorithms
  • Experience in programming with Matlab, C or Python
  • Experience in software design processes
  • Interest to gain experience in rapid coding by applying an efficient development process by maximum utilization of development tools such as development environments, version control systems, debugging, testing, and documentation.
  • Experience with software development and build process on Linux
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new topics
  • Ambition to work in an international environment
  • Interest to experiment with new and innovative ideas
  • Good level in English and German languages
