Tasks

You will:

  • Support the development, maintenance and testing of global pricing tools and other underwriting Excel tools (including VBA-based tools) used by Product & Underwriting
  • Prepare and clean pricing data sets: check data quality, structure data for analysis, and create basic summaries and insights for the pricing manager and underwriters
  • Help build and run pricing models (e.g. GLMs and basic machine learning models) to predict claim frequency and severity in Python and/or other tools
  • Contribute to automating repetitive pricing and reporting tasks to improve productivity and reduce manual work (e.g. scripts, templates, simple dashboards)
  • Work with global underwriters and pricing colleagues to understand their questions and translate them into practical analyses or tool enhancements
  • Work effectively in an environment shaped by artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, data analytics and cloud-based tools, using insight responsibly and in line with our standards for data governance, security and ethical use

Profile

  • Studying for (or recently completed) a bachelor’s degree or above in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Data Science or a closely related field – you are comfortable with numbers, probability and basic statistical concepts
  • Good working knowledge of Excel, including formulas and data handling – you can structure spreadsheets clearly and check your own work
  • Some experience with Excel VBA and/or Python – not expert level, but you can read, modify and write simple scripts or macros to manipulate data and automate tasks
  • Ability to work with data in a structured way: cleaning, checking for obvious issues, and preparing it for analysis or modelling
  • Clear communication in English, including the ability to explain technical work in simple terms to non-technical stakeholders (e.g. underwriters and product managers)
  • Collaborative mindset and willingness to learn from actuaries, data scientists and underwriters in a global team setting
