The mission of the thermal systems business group is to develop and manufacture systems, modules and components to ensure thermal energy management of the power train and comfort for each passenger, during all phases of vehicle use. These systems help to significantly reduce fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and other pollutants and harmful particles from vehicles equipped with internal combustion engines. They also increase travel range and battery life for hybrid and electric vehicles. At the Front Office in Bietigheim-Bissingen we are supporting Sale- and Project activities and compose the interface between the customers Daimler and Valeo-internal departments at the development from Thermal Systems.

Tasks

  • Truck-Specific Requirement Engineering: Define and manage functional requirements specific to the truck market, including Blind Spot Information Systems (BSIS UN R151) and Moving Off Information Systems (MOIS UN R159).
  • Functional Architecture: Adapt radar sensing strategies to account for truck-specific geometries, such as long wheelbases, high mounting positions, and articulated vehicle dynamics (tractor-trailer coordination).
  • Customer Technical Interface: Serve as the primary technical contact for Truck OEMs to capture specific use cases (e.g., trailer detection, rear-ward monitoring, and docking maneuvers) and translate them into system specifications.
  • Functional Safety & Regulation: Ensure that the radar system complies with heavy-duty vehicle safety standards and specific European/Global regulations for commercial vehicle safety.
  • Validation Strategy: Define and oversee the validation plan for truck functions, including specific test maneuvers for articulated vehicles and multi-sensor configurations (e.g., side-looking radars).
  • Product Adaptation: Collaborate with the hardware and software teams to ensure the radar product meets the increased durability, voltage (24V), and environmental requirements of the trucking industry.

Profile

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • System Engineering Experience: Proven track record as a Function Owner or System Engineer in the ADAS domain, with experience in requirement management tools (e.g., DOORS).
  • Truck Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of commercial vehicle architectures, including pneumatic systems, 24V electrical systems, and vehicle communication protocols (J1939).
  • Regulatory Awareness: Familiarity with international regulations for heavy-duty vehicles (e.g., GSR II requirements for trucks).
  • Communication: Excellent negotiation and presentation skills to drive technical discussions with global truck manufacturers.
