Our client is one of the leading companies in the field of pool and spa water care in Europe, offering extensive ranges of care products and automatic water treatment systems. The distribution of our products is done through the specialized trade channel and the internet, as well as through the large-scale retail distributors. As part of a larger Canadian group, and with subsidies in Germany, France and Spain, the company has real European outreach and thus looks for a Chief Accountant who knows how to handle German Gaap and US Gaap.

Reporting & Senior Accountant Germany - german / english / french (m/f/x), Munich or Lyon

Your mission

You directly report to the Group Manager, Accounting & Taxation. As a true right-hand (wo)man, you will be responsible for the compliance of the accounts, the respect of corporate deadlines, as well as the correct application of the accounting and tax rules for the German entities, both in German and in US GAAP. The ERP tool is SAP as well as SAP Business Explorer (BEx).

Your responsabilities

  • General accounting entries, monthly closing, and account reconciliation for at least 2 German entities
  • Preparation of annual statutory accounts and managing the statutory audit with PwC
  • Preparation and filing of annual tax returns as well as managing tax audits, aided by tax consultants
  • Preparation of monthly VAT returns in the 5 European countries where the entities operate
  • Administrative management of payroll and other human resources topics
  • Supporting cash-flow forecasting by providing input regarding taxes and payroll and preparation of annual operating expense budgets
  • Control of travel expenses including accounting entries and ensuring timely payment
  • Ensure compliance with group procedures and internal control processes
  • Participating in the improvement of general processes and information systems

Your qualifications / profile / essential skills

  • Higher education in accounting, you have acquired a previous experience of at least 3 to 5 years in a similar position in an international environment, ideally preceded by an exposure to public accounting in an audit firm
  • Solid technical and accounting knowledge to understand VAT transactions in an international context
  • Knowledgeable and comfortable with German accounting and tax rules;
  • Mastery of Excel and solid knowledge of SAP
  • Comfortable in working both in German and in English
  • Proactive when exchanging with both internal and external actors
  • Autonomous and rigorous mindset, and a creative problem-solver while knowing how to prioritize and demonstrate both flexibility and curiosity
